Hardcore MMA FAN, Aimee from New Joizzy filled out the latest installment of 13 Q’s.
Enjoy!
1.) Thanks for your time Aimee, What’s new?
Doing good, a bit tired. I got home from Canada last night, drove 7 hours
2.) What is it that got you into MMA and when?
A long time ago I caught a UFC event on TV. I was hooked. I couldnt turn the channel. I loved how they fought. It wasnt the same as boxing, much more skill. Chokes, kicks, punches……it has it all! Very exciting.
3.) What is your favorite movie?
Its hard to list one, so I am going to list a few…Pretty Woman, Elf, 50 First Dates, Neverending Story, Matrix.
4.) Have you ever bought an MMA PPV other than a UFC PPV?
Yes Pride
5.) What are 3 bands/groups that’d be in your iPOD right now?
Fall Out Boy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt
6.) Who are some of your favorite fighters and why?
Matt Hamill, he is so tough. He hits so hard and fights toe-to-toe, it looks like he never gets tired either. When he is in the ring, the only person he can rely on his himself, considering he is unable to hear people screaming him advice. I think he is truly amazing and will be around for a long time. Plus I have been lucky enough to talk to him a few times, he is one of the nicest guys around. I actually hope to fly to FL to see him Oct 10th.
I also adore Forrest Griffin. It seams lately people dont give him enough credit. I think he did great against Tito and definitely beat Bonner in the last fight. He is a tough guy and trains very hard. He is not only great standing, but awesome on the ground as well.
7.) What is the best MMA fight you’ve ever seen?
UFC - Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonner (1st match). These two guys looked like they were fighting for 100 million dollars. Blood everywhere, punches, kicks, it was insane. I think lots of people would agree that was the best fight in UFC history.
8.) What are your thought on the IFL and its TEAM concept?
I love the IFL! I was at the first 2 shows in Atlantic City NJ. I think its different how they have teams and 4 coaches (great coaches I might add). I met Bas Rutten, boy what a character he is!! So funny!! Like a big kid, and he let me choke him out, it was fun
The two owners are very nice guys and will treat the fighters right. I love the UFC, but I dont like Dana White. I think he needs to put more money into the UFC Fighters pockets, not himself. Also he promoted how Wanderlei Silva (Pride) was going to fight Chuck Liddell. I can bet that that will never happen. I think Dana does NOT want Pride to compete with UFC or is thrilled its coming to Vegas. There are other shows other than UFC. IFL and Pride in the states is a GREAT thing.
My favorite IFL fighter is Chris Horodecki. For 18 years old, the guy can FIGHT. He won his last 2 IFL matches. Very fun to watch, really nice guy and tough. Look out for him.
9.) Have you ever been to an MMA event as a spectator?
Yes I have been to about 7 UFC shows. I wish UFC was coming to the east coast soon. We used to have shows at Mohegan Sun (CT) and Boardwalk Hall (NJ). There hasnt been a show yet this year here, very upsetting to me. Anytime there is a show here, I am there! I have tickets to the Pride fight in Oct, that I hope to attend as well.
10.) What are your thoughts on the current state of MMA in the U.S.?
I love the UFC, but like I said above, I think its great that there is a new show in town, IFL, and that Pride will FINALLY be making its debut in Vegas in Oct 06!
11.) Is there anywhere in the world you’d like to travel to but haven’t seen yet?
Japan!! They are so much more advanced then we are here (technology wise). I want to see Pride live there also. I even want to learn the language. That is one place I need to travel too within the next few years.
12.) What are some of your favorite pastimes?
Getting to meet lots of UFC & IFL fighters. Its nice to talk to them for a few minutes each and ask them what you want. Everyone person I have come in contact with, has been super nice and down to earth.
13.) If you could see ANY MMA match, who would the fighters be?
Wow thats a toughie. I thought the CroCop/Silva fight recently was great. I am interesting in seeing Matt Hamill in his next fight against Seth Petruzelli and I would like to see George St Pierre fight Hughes. George deserves a shot at him. Its been too long and I think it will be great to watch.
