As You All Know, I’ve been on an involuntary hiatus from the internet for the past week and a half or so…
I’ve got a lot of catching up to do but, here’s the 3rd installment of 13 Q’s with an MMA FAN in a Band.

1.) Who are you, what do you play and what’s the name of your band?

Everyone knows me as Mikey Sixx (no I did not give myself that name) and I sing and play bass/guitar in Blame It On The Sex out of San Francisco, CA

2.) What is it that got you into MMA and when?

What got me into it was the sheer brutality of it back when it very first started. I’ve got a lot of full on redneck in my blood so back in the day when it was just 2 dudes scrappin’ it out, I was all about it. I kinda lost interest with all the Royce Gracie crap but i’m hardcore on it again now that it’s gettin good again

3.) Who are some of your favorite fighters?

My favorite is Tito Ortiz. I love his attitude and his aggressive style. Chuck Lidell is fun to watch for a knockout. As for the up and comers I’m a big fan of Matt Hamill (can’t wait to see him fight more), Forrest Griffin, and Matthew Bisping

4.) Who are some of your bands’ influences?

Oh wow.. We all are into very different stuff. As for the influences that show through the most in our music, I would have to say : Pantera, Down, Turbonegro, Amen, Clutch, Motley Crue, Machine Head, Guns N Roses.. We all listen to random stuff though, ranging from H.I.M to Prince to Radiohead to Slayer

5.) If you could see ANY MMA fight, who would it be?

I’m really lookin forward to Tito vs. Chuck 2. And i’m rootin for Tito. My calendar is also marked for Shamrock vs. Ortiz 3 cuz I can’t stand Ken Shamrock.

6.) Have you played with anyone BIG?
I don’t wanna toot our own horn. We’ve done shows with guys from The Misfits and Butthole Surfers. I’ve toured with members of Testament, Cradle of Filth, Sadus and Psypheria. We are still workin on gettin this band off the ground again and We’ve all been busting our asses to make contacts. Our ex singer made things hard to get good quality shows but I plan on goin all out this time around.

7.) Are there any of your songs that you think would make a good THEME song for a fighter?

We’ve only got a few tracks that are finalized with us cuz we scrapped about 3 years of material. If there is a fighter who digs heavy groovin riffs. I’d be stoked as hell to have them rock us on the way to punch out some teeth

8.) What do you want people to know about ‘Blame It On The Sex’?

HMMM… Can I phone a friend? I dunno. We are basically just 3 dudes jamming on stuff that we wanna hear. Not a lot of bands out right now are doing the style of stuff we are and those who are we are big fans of. I guess that’s what we get for not wearing girlpants or doing spin-kicks or crying into the microphone. We just wanna bring some pure rock fury and have girls move their asses and dudes break their necks.. flat out.. Dirty heavy southern metal with a touch of punk.. no breakdowns.. no emo.. no shredding.. just balls out rock..

9.) What do you think about the current state of MMA in the U.S.?

It’s overwhelming how far it’s come since the early UFC days. It’s hugely right now. Pride is also coming up in the U.S and getting popular which is killer. The more quality fights that are on tv the happier I’ll be.

10.) Do you watch pay-per views of MMA events? Which ones?

If there is a really good card that I wanna see I’ll definately grab a bunch of beer and call up my buddies and order the fight. Always UFC. I watch Pride on TV a lot but haven’t gotten too into any of the fighters to make PPV worthwhile

11.) Do you read MMA news on the internet? Where?

I’ve been lookin for a good place cuz I always hear people spouting off MMA news and I’m just like.. “where do you hear this??” Someone on Machine Head’s message board linked me to some MMA Weekly page. Pretty cool place

12.) Are you guys signed? Do you see yourselves being signed anytime soon?

We’re not signed. Our last cd was a 4 song ep we just gave away at our shows. Some kid having our cd is way more important to us than having 5 bucks or whatever. If it comes outta our pocket, so what. I dunno if I could see us on a major label but if an indie label wanted to help us with promotion and distrobution. That would be killer cuz it’s less stuff we have to do on our own, ya know? We’ve had an album in stores in the bay for a while and it sold out everywhere. We even did an in store show at Tower Records, that was just funny. We played right in front of the porn section. It was perfect for us

13.) If you could make your own BILL, who would you play with?

My dream bill for us would be Pantera, Faith No More, Machine Head, Down, Trivium, H.I.M, Turbonegro, Children of Bodom, and Blame it on the Sex.. It would have to be some festival show cuz that’s a lot of bands and i’m sure the crowd would be fighting cuz that’s pretty diverse group of bands. And I’d wanna play first so I could spend the rest of the show drinkin with the other bands and being a total fanboy on the side of the stage. In a dream world I’d go out onstage and Jam with Machine Head. And since those guys are folks I actually consider friends, that might not be too far fetched of a dream. Too bad this show could never happen due to the loss of Dimebag Darrell.. There is no Pantera without him. And I don’t think Mike Patton plans on doin a FNM reunion ever. *cries like a little girl*

Thanks again for your time… It’s great to hear from bands who are fans of Mixed Martial Arts… Use this extra space to say anything else to your fans and feel free to plug any endorsements you have…
