Today on a MMA Discussions Radio Toby Glenn is joined by Jamie “The Worm” Varner. Jamie Varner originally comes from Arizona and trains there. He is fighting in the WEC against Razor Rob McCullough. I discuss with him his fight with Hermes Franca, cutting weight, his training for this fight, and so much more. I also talked to him about something that’s really important to me which is MMA in Pennsylvania and we discuss what drives fighters to be high-level athletes in mixed martial arts from Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania and why many of them move away after college. Arizona Combat Sports is the name of the gym that he trains at and he discusses his training partners and how they’ve helped him prepare for this fight. On tonights show Toby and Tim talked with Jamie Varner. He was formally know as the worm and he has two UFC fights and now an impressive victory in the WEC. He fought Sherron Leggett and got an easy victory. He also during the fight shot for a single leg and was in deep and picked hi opponent up in a firemens carry when he dropped the opponent in what could only be described as a pro-wrestling death valley driver. He then went on to pick up a TKO from strikes. In the UFC he fought Jason Gilliam and got a quick rear naked choke victory. His first UFC fight was against Hermes Franca and he lost in the 3rd round by armbar. He went on to discuss his training and what he has coming up next.
